Position Summary

Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as an Account Payable (AP) and Travel and Expense (T&E) Manager.  If you join us in this position, you will assist in for the LauncherOne small satellite launch program. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.

 Your part of the Mission

• Hiring, training, motivating, and evaluating accounts payable and T&E staff members.
• Overseeing routine department activities to ensure that they are completed accurately and on time.
• Maintaining accurate and complete financial, employee, and client records.
• Compiling, analyzing, and reporting financial information to management and government agencies.
• Setting and facilitating the achievement of department objectives.
• Developing, implementing, improving, and enforcing budgets, policies, and department controls to increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Building and maintaining relationships with employees, clients, vendors, and lenders.
• Timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices; 2 and 3-way matches
• Ensure proper coding of invoices prior to entry into the accounting system
• Reconcile corporate credit card (T&E and Purchasing cards)
• Implement software tools where required
• Track and review expense reports for proper documentation and policy adherence
• Implement KPIs that are useful for management analysis and review
• Assist Supervisor with the review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
• Constantly find process improvements and implement all projects necessary to be as efficient possible
• Utilize project management skills in improving the department
• Meet all month end deadlines for reporting and accruals
• Maintain vendor files and tax information to ensure that we follow IRS guidelines for year-end 1099s
• Effectively interact with and respond to vendor inquiries
• Help Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better place
• Constantly learn new things—and share them with your team members
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Assist in implementation of paperless procedures and other departmental projects

• Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting or Finance Preferred)
• Extensive knowledge of accounting and management principles, accounts payable procedures and T&E processes.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency with computers, especially business solutions and bookkeeping software.
• Strong planning and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyze information and processes.
• Motivation to develop and maintain internal and external relationships.
• Commitment to ethical behavior with a willingness to adhere to all company policies and current financial legislation.
• 10+ Years in Accounting Experience
• Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Excel
• Solid analytical skills, data analysis, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and confident in dealing with people at all organizational levels
• Deliver a high volume of transaction work with accuracy and timeliness
• Oracle R12 or similar ERP system experience
• Concur or similar travel and expense software experience
• OCR-based AP department experience
• Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
• Driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement
• Ability to add something unique and positive to our team
• Generally high level of all-around awesomeness
• Must be able to manage work efficiently in a fast-pasted environment, research financial data, troubleshoot and follow through on projects to completion
