Senior Contracts Administrator

 

Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as a Senior Contracts AdministratorVirgin Orbit is seeking a Senior Contracts Administrator to join the Legal team. The Senior Contracts Administrator performs advanced-level complex services to support our contracting for goods and services on major projects, capital improvement projects, and engineering and other professional services of various disciplines across our company.  The Senior Contracts Administrator is also responsible for ensuring all contracts and corresponding documents are compliant with company policy, and legal and regulatory requirements.  This position requires the ability to draft, review, revise, negotiate and finalize agreements, with particular emphasis on: (1) agreements for goods, services, licenses, leases, equipment rental, purchase order terms and conditions and other legal documents as requested; and (2) maintaining electronic files and databases, including accurate data entry of contract profiles and data, and assisting the team with special projects and other related duties as assigned or requested. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail, excellent team player and the ability to have fun while working.

 

This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.

 

Your Mission

  • Extensively work within the team’s Contract Management System to develop and maintain detailed and organized contract records, communications and updates in accordance with established policies, procedures and audit guidelines. Coordinate execution and distribution of approved agreements.
  • Go all-in on our mission by building productive relationships and working closely with the members of the Legal team and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding contractual requirements, terms and conditions, clarification of rationale for negotiated terms, and specific risks associated with agreements.
  • Respond to legal inquiries in a timely manner; raise and escalate issues arising during the normal course of Virgin Orbit’s business. Able to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment while effectively meeting deadlines.

What you bring

If you want to join us, you’d better have all of these…

  • Minimum of nine (9) years of experience and increasing responsibility in sub-contracts or contract administration and a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Solid understanding of reviewing, analyzing and interpreting a broad range of commercial agreements.
  • Ability to administer daily contract activities for a variety of contract types, including contracts for the purchase of goods and services, software license agreements and lease agreements.
  • Ensure contract terms are negotiated within company guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Experience compiling and negotiating with U.S. government contracts and RFPs and a working knowledge of the FARs and other agency supplement flow-downs would be a plus.
  • Knowledge of public company filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission would be a plus.
  • Think strategically, trouble shoot issues and work with various teams to drive tasks to completion efficiently and accurately in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement, solid inter-team communication skills, efficient time management skills and an intense attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently and with team members on complex assignments, supporting suppliers, customers, internal departments and various levels of management.
  • Willingness to identify and take ownership of complex issues by devising solutions and strategies.
  • Proactively work across teams to help quickly resolve important issues.
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15).
  • Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space.
  • Ability and desire to perform in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement, inter-team communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to provide proof of US-approved Covid-19 full vaccination status, unless otherwise exempted by an approved reasonable medical or religious accommodation from Virgin Orbit.

  • Strong proficiency with MS Office applications; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Teams a plus.

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
