Sr. Financial Analyst

 

Position Summary 

Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as a Sr. Financial Analyst.  If you join us in this position, you will be responsible for performing variance and trend analysis, defining the scope of budgets, forecasting for projects and missions, and supporting business systems and processes.

This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills.

 

This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California, with an option to work on hybrid remote schedule following initial training.

Your Mission

  • Create monthly financial deliverables to support internal and external reporting
  • Maintain business systems and processes to ensure data integrity
  • Develop departmental budgets/forecasts with cross-functional business partners
  • Support Project/Program Financial reporting and analyses
  • Develop Capital budgets/forecasts with business partners and track performance
  • Analyze budget/forecast variances and organizational impacts
  • Identify cost reduction or continuous improvement opportunities
  • Perform ad-hoc financial analysis to support business needs
  • Transform large data sets into actionable recommendations
  • Build relationships with business partners to deliver excellent customer service
  • Represent our company, our employees, and our customers in a way that makes us all proud

What you bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or similar field of study
  • 4+ years of budget, forecasting and financial analysis, preferably in aerospace, manufacturing or R&D industries
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Excel (v/h-lookups, pivot tables, formulas, complex reporting)
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and related business systems – ORACLE experience a plus
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving and organization skills.
  • Experience with financial modeling and scenario analysis- for project accounting and new business estimations
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement, inter-team communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space.
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15).
  • Must be able to provide proof of US-approved Covid-19 full vaccination status, unless otherwise exempted by an approved reasonable medical or religious accommodation from Virgin Orbit.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
