Purchasing & Subcontracts Coordinator- Contractor

 

Position Summary

Virgin Orbit is seeking a Purchasing & Subcontracts Coordinator to support various 3rd party vendor contractor processing and coordination including, but not limited to: Review and revision of Statements of Work (SOWs), Requests for Quotes (RFQ’s), complex one-time orders and negotiation of pricing and terms.  This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills.

 

This is a 6 Month Contract position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.

Your Mission

  • Review, analyze and administer 3rd party manufacturing supplier contracts and contingent worker agreements.
  • Coordinate and negotiate with Suppliers and Managers to properly oversee and adhere to Virgin Orbit’s supplier management policies and processes.
  • Partner with senior procurement and legal teams to negotiate and revise contracts.
  • Extensively work within the contract management system to document all details, communications and updates pertaining to the contracts.
  • Formulate bid proposals and procedures used in the procurement of services.
  • Work with Production, Planning, and Engineering team to determine current and future purchasing needs.
  • Monitor Supplier performance and financial standing and coordinate Supplier metrics
  • Maintain records in accordance with established policies and procedures and audit guidelines.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Administration or related field, three (3) years of contract administration; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of reviewing, analyzing and interpreting manufacturing supplier contracts.
  • Experience with using Oracle-based procurement systems for administering and processing a high volume of 3rd party vendors.
  • Solid understanding of vendor onboarding processes, purchasing and supply chain operating procedures.
  • Proven experience managing contracts and subcontracts in a manufacturing environment, quality requirements, State and Federal occupational, safety and environmental regulations and laws and contingent worker agreements.
  • Ability to establish long-term agreements, blanket agreements, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions.
  • Ability to interpret engineering, production and quality requirements and establish Statements of Work, and or Sub-contracts.
  • Ability to evaluate procurement bids in accordance with established criteria in accordance with industry best practices (familiarity with FAR or FAR Supplemental regulations is welcomed).
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication and time management skills.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office applications; Outlook, Word, Excel, PPT; MS O365 and Teams a plus.
  • Must be a U.S. person as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15).
  • Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space.
  • Ability and desire to perform in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement, inter-team communication skills, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to provide proof of US-approved Covid-19 full vaccination status, unless otherwise exempted by an approved reasonable medical or religious accommodation from Virgin Orbit.

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
