    Position Summary

     

    Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as an Avionics Integration Engineer. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.

    Your Mission

    • Design and release of wire harness models and drawings using NX software in Team Center
    • Responsible for harnessing on rocket stage, co-ordinate the wire harness design and installation between various departments.
    • Work with Electrical engineers to confirm optimized design for interferences, Hi vib environments, ease of installation, and other design concerns
    • Responsible for sensor installation, mounting and grounding methods
    • Responsible for generating wire harness routing in NX, form board design and support harness build activities.
    • Responsible for integration tests to verify functional operation.
    • Responsible for generating test fixtures and test procedures for system level test.
    • Applies basic technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned routine engineering problems
    • Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions, and communicates results to project engineering staff
    • Maintain detailed schedules that support overall product schedules and properly communicate status to management
    • Work on a team to complete projects with high quality while maintaining schedules

    What you bring

    • BS in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
    • 3+ years’ Engineering experience in harness design, or related field of study.
    • Knowledge and experience with NX wire harnessing, or Creo wire harnessing or Solidworks wire harnessing
    • Experience with system architecture design is required
    • Knowledge of MIL 38999 standards, NASA 8739.4 or equivalent specs

     

    ITAR Requirements

    To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
