    Position Summary

    Virgin Orbit is seeking a Contract Full-Stack Software Developer to assist in the development of an internal website for creating, validating and viewing configuration files that are used to launch rockets. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a 6 month contract position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.

    Your Mission

    Have you ever wanted to launch a rocket from a webpage? Well now is your chance. The Contract Full-Stack Software Developer will be responsible for helping to define, create and maintain internal websites that will be used to generate configuration files that are used in the launch system, for viewing telemetry data from the launch system and for interacting directly with the launch system software.

    • Design and implementation of an internal web site that will be used for storing, viewing and creating internal files
    • Responsible for parsing and error checking of all configuration files used in Launch Operations
    • Design and implement web pages for viewing real-time telemetry coming from the launch system
    • Design and implement web pages for interacting with the launch system
    • Help Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better place
    • Constantly learn new things—and share them with your team members
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    What you bring

    If you want to join us, you’d better have all of these…

    • 2+ years of Node.js experience
    • 2+ years of Vue.js/React/Angular experience
    • 5+ years as a software developer
    • Knowledge of SDLC
    • Experience with test-driven development
    • Have designed/utilized RESTful APIs as well as WebSockets
    • Strong understanding of full stack web development
    • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and work in a fast-paced environment
    • Exceptional skill with Git
    • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
    • Driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement
    • Ability to add something unique and positive to our team
    • Generally high level of all-around awesomeness

    • Experience with Atlassian products (Bitbucket, Confluence, JIRA)
    • Experience using RDBMS and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Elasticsearch, MongoDB)
    • Experience designing web applications with toolkits (Sketch, Figma, Invision)
    • Ability to take ownership of a project from beginning to end
    • Experience with development of real-time collaboration applications
    • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed.
    • Must be able to sit for extended periods – 8 hours min.
    • Travel to Mojave to support test and launch campaigns
    • Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space
    • Ability to thrive as a ‘one person team’

     

    ITAR Requirements
    To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
