Position Summary

Virgin Orbit (VO) www.VirginOrbit.com is seeking a new member for our team to serve as a Configuration Specialist, Contractor/Consultant. If you join us in this position, you would work closely with production, supply chain and engineering to implement robust manufacturing quality processes for the LauncherOne small satellite launch program. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a contract position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.

Your Mission

  • Maintain configuration control of Bill of Materials and Part data in Virgin Orbit’s ERP System (Oracle)
  • Ensure proper set-up of hardware in ERP system and support troubleshooting as-needed
  • Determine and maintain critical item attributes in Oracle through collaboration with other departments
  • Administer the engineering change process by logging changes, tracking status, and ensuring needed actions are taken.
  • Participate in company initiatives and contribute to continuous process improvements
  • Help Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better place
  • Constantly learn new things—and share them with your team members
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What you bring

If you want to join us, you’d better have all of these…

  • General understanding of configuration change management 
  • Experience maintaining and supporting Manufacturing and Supply Chain
  • Knowledge of Aerospace Manufacturing and Supply Chain best-practices (ISO9001/AS9100, CMII, etc.)
  • Skill in a variety of business and project management software
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment

… and you should probably have a bunch of these, too.

  • Working knowledge of an ERP/MRP system (Oracle preferred)
  • Associates degree or higher
  • Strong MS Excel ability
  • Incredible energy and passion with a resourceful attitude
  • Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
