Position Summary

Virgin Orbit (VO) is On a Mission to open space and change business for good, and we’re looking for a proven Talent Acquisition professional to help us chart our path. We’re looking for a dynamic leader to support our team of rock star recruiters as we attract and select the finest people in the industry for the LauncherOne small satellite launch program. This role is ideal for a results-driven and data-focused leader who is excited to roll up his or her sleeves and help take our Talent programs to the next level. As part of the Talent leadership team, you will help drive our end-to-end People strategy, ensuring a truly unique Virgin experience for each applicant and new hire. This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.

Your Mission

  • Lead, coach, and develop a crew of in-house teammates and contract recruiters to deliver best-in-class experience to candidates and hiring managers
  • Help define and execute on our Talent Strategy, including candidate experience, sourcing, university relations, diversity & inclusion, talent pipeline, technology & social media, and alignment with the Virgin Group brand
  • Manage our various tools and vendor partners, including our candidate tracking system (iCIMS). Working with your team, you will continue to configure and optimize our systems and processes to take them to the next level
  • Serve as lead recruiter for select teams and key roles
  • Lead special projects within and across teams
  • Consult with senior leaders and hiring managers on strategic and tactical initiatives, and translate organizational needs into action and results
  • With your team and stakeholders, design and deliver a strategy for measuring key metrics that are aligned to our Talent and People strategies
  • Help Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better place
  • Constantly learn new things—and share them with your team members
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What you bring

If you want to join us, you’d better have all of these…

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related area
  • 7+ years recruiting experience both internal and external/agency models
    • Must have executive recruitment/search experience
  • 2+ years experience leading recruiting teams
  • Experience recruiting for both Fortune 500 and Private companies
  • Superior project management skills, and a strong attention to detail and logistics
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite (Word/Outlook/PowerPoint)
  • Ability to travel as required for meetings offsite >15%
  • You thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • You’re an intra-preneur: Driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement
  • You add something unique and positive to our team – wow us with your unique set of skills
  • Generally high level of all-around awesomeness
  • We are on an aggressive recruiting path…so you must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends…whatever it takes to get the job done!

  • Proven experience successfully recruiting and partnering with a wide spectrum of people and positions: Hourly, administrative, Techs, Exempt, Engineers, Executives…
  • Experience building up, developing, supporting and helping the team flourish as they deliver exceptional service to our customers.
  • Enthusiasm for the Virgin culture and a drive to see it propagated.
  • A passion for space and a belief in our mission to democratize space for the good of life on Earth
  • A love for teamwork and collaboration, balanced with an ability to be a “one person team” when needed

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
