Position Summary

Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst to join our business development team. The candidate we are seeking will be responsible for a wide range of data analytic and demand planning duties, to provide actionable insights and drive improved financial performance for our clients. S/he will be responsible for ensuring that our data systems are engineered for greater flexibility and reuse for the LauncherOne small satellite launch program. You will work with various department to ensure that their future data needs are met with our current and future designs while accomplishing these and other critical functions. The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst will also implement data analysis projects including but not limited to data reporting, data visualizations, and ad-hoc research projects. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.

Your Mission

  • Strong analytical and research capabilities for development of market assessments, competitor analysis, and financial models
  • Maintain Salesforce database on customer accounts, opportunities, and market analytics
  • Create intuitive, simple, and meaningful performance dashboards
  • Provide meaningful metrics and data to help demonstrate where data collection, measurement and analysis can be valuable in informing strategic decisions regarding resource allocation and planning
  • Leverage the latest innovative practices and technology available in business analytics to accelerate VO’s development.
  • Attend conferences and industry networking events to develop sustaining industry relationships and obtain business intelligence.
  • Preliminary screening of potential business leads by analyzing deal requirements, potential, and financials; evaluating options; aligning with internal priorities
  • Contributes to development of the product roadmap with technical and business inputs from the marketplace.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of experience in business or finance fields
  • Previous experience in aerospace and general understanding of the space market
  • Must have strong analytical skills and an understanding of SQL databases, data elements, and application software solutions to maximize data gathering and data analysis
  • Strong experience with financial modeling a major plus
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Accuracy, quality, and attention to detail are essential for this position
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present analysis to customers
  • Must be comfortable to work with multiple stakeholders and can interpret their intent and application
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong knowledge of a variety business concepts, techniques, and principles
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
  • Self-starters and ambitious persons looking to grow their career and manage major accounts
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement

  • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed

  • MA, MBA or equivalent experience desirable
  • Works on multiple projects and changing priority
  • Possess an understanding of Key Performance Metrics
  • Prepare spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations for clients
  • Forms strong professional working relationships with team members who have limited data analysis, metrics or finance experience
  • Excellent organizational skills and a high attention to detail
  • Manage projects with minimal supervision. Proactively addresses actions and issues
  • Excellent verbal, written, and social skills to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space
  • Ability to thrive as a ‘one person team’

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
