Position Summary

Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as Business Systems Analyst, Manufacturing and Quality. This position will assist in the implementation and support of LauncherOne’s Manufacturing Execution System solution. Business Systems Analyst for MES and QMS will be supported and working closely with in-house and remote MES, Oracle ERP and Teamcenter PLM teams as well as Manufacturing Engineering, Shop Floor and Quality subject matter experts. This is a full-time position at Virgin Galactic’s aerospace facility in Long Beach, California.

Your Mission

  • Functional expert in MES and QMS business applications
  • Scoping, sizing, design and documentation of configuration and customizations
  • Experience in integration with major ERP systems (preferably Oracle EBS)
  • Super user functional training, creation and maintenance of training material
  • On-going MES level one (direct) support
  • Liaison to level two (remote) support groups
  • Creating custom SQL reports for production and supply chain metrics and KPIs
  • Reporting on open support tickets and ticket burn down rates
  • Help Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better place
  • Constantly learn new things—and share them with your team members
  • Performs other duties as assigned

What you bring

If you want to join us, you’d better have all of these…

  • Engineering degree in computer science, engineering or business fields
  • Expert knowledge of MES systems. ERP and PLM systems are a plus
  • Strong knowledge of MS Office products
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in MES implementations
  • Experience in aerospace, aviation or automotive/heavy equipment industries is preferred
  • Ability to work in both R&D and production rate environments
  • Proficiency in SQL reporting is required
  • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement
  • Ability to add something unique and positive to our team
  • Generally high level of all-around awesomeness
  • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 25lbs (unassisted)

  • Strong knowledge in systems and equipment level integration
  • Experience implementing Solumina (iBASEt) MES is a plus
  • Problem solver, able to work in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of Tableau or other similar reporting frameworks is a big plus
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management systems is a plus
  • Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space
  • Ability to thrive as a ‘one person team’

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
