Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as Manufacturing Engineering Manager, Structures. This role will require a background in manufacturing and composite part development. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.
Influence other engineering functions, production teams, and external suppliers to drive achievement of objectives, establishing strong working links with these teams

Bachelor of Science Engineering degree in aerospace, mechanical or equivalent
Minimum of 9 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a BS degree, or 7 years with a MS degree
Minimum of 2 years in a leadership role, with either technical leadership responsibilities or direct supervisory responsibility for a team

Demonstrated experience transitioning products from prototype manufacturing through volume production including Design for Manufacture and Assembly
Considerable knowledge and understanding of lean manufacturing and its application to low and medium volume production programs
Experience with Siemens NX / TeamCenter and Oracle is a plus
Familiar with the use of PFMEAs to reduce risk to the manufacturing process
Creative problem solver, able to work in multi-disciplinary teams
Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and leadership skills
Design and analysis (Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience
Experience performing system level testing for complex integrated assemblies
