Position Summary

Virgin Orbit (VO) is looking for the next crucial part of our Learning & Development team! We’re hiring a Senior People Learning & Development Program Manager to help us define and design an innovative and game-changing suite of training and development programs. We’re looking for just the right teammate to help us create our learning and development strategy for technical and job-specific programs. You’ll work with Managers and Senior Leaders to identify learning & performance needs and create a training curriculum for each role in the company. You’ll then coordinate efforts with the L&D Partner, internal subject matter experts, and external resources to design and deliver training and performance support across the company. You’ll also help transform superstar subject matter experts into dynamic facilitators and coaches. You’ll get to teach some, too, so you should have excellent facilitation skills (mentor like Yoda you must).

The most important skills you’ll need are strategy, communication, and project management. The ideal teammate will also have spent time in an engineering, manufacturing, aerospace, or similar field helping to build job skills and technical training and support. You’ll also need to be super comfortable working with a diverse set of stakeholders, generating creative solutions, and bringing some fun into dense, dry content. You’ve got to have credibility with a smart team, and that comes from your experience on a manufacturing, engineering, or technical team.

You should be a “yes, and…” kind of person – a strategist, a designer, a facilitator, a project manager.

We’re looking for a rock star, and we’re not willing to settle. We have a green and open field just waiting for the right person to come build something great. If you’re the one, we need to talk!

Your Mission

  • Facilitate needs analysis with department heads and senior leaders across the company to determine learning and performance support needs, scope, schedules, and design.
  • Be the master of curriculum development, scoping and project management of technical and job skills training programs. You will be the Learning Architect for all technical and job skill straining programs – no pressure.
  • Plan, organize and facilitate training programs, train-the-trainers, seminars and workshops to improve and streamline teammate learning across the enterprise.
  • Assess, track, and adapt programs based on performance measurements and teammate feedback
  • Inject fun and delight into dense, technical and regulatory programs.
  • Manage the development of multiple simultaneous and complex learning programs, including the design, delegation, and supervision of training materials with internal and external resources.
  • Supervise the selection, development, and performance of a team of indirect trainers (subject matter experts from each line of business), and external trainers and coaches as required.
  • Support other Learning & Development functions as needed.
  • Help Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better place
  • Constantly learn new things—and share them with your team members
  • Performs other duties as assigned
