Position Summary

Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as HRIS Analyst. If you join us in this position, you will assist in providing data management and reporting support. You will also ensure platform optimization and system maintenance, consistently reviewing and enhancing company system interfaces and coordinating HRIS training and system upgrades for the LauncherOne small satellite launch program. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a contract role at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.

Your Mission

  • Ensures the company-wide HRIS meets customers’ and vendor needs; and keeps current on all system capabilities, reviews system functionality and/or the use of specific data fields and makes recommendations for utilization where appropriate.
  • Reviews table information to ensure data integrity; edits input documents for accuracy and monitors output for system problems; and is responsible for integrity of corporate database.
  • Reviews Benefit Plan, Compensation and Learning and Program information, makes changes necessary to reflect current active benefit options to employees; update the HRIS system all annual changes; and ensures all employee self- service and manager self-service functionality and manage interface set up for all benefits.
  • Administers systems security ensuring users are granted only access for which they have been approved.
  • Implements systems upgrades provided by vendor and trains/or communicates to users and changes in functionality.
  • Acts as liaison with Payroll, Benefits, Compensation and Human Resources on all system related issues.
  • Revises and executes production schedules for routine and specific report requests and turnaround documents and prepares ad hoc reports as requested.
  • Creates, prepares and distributes regular reports to various internal departments.
  • Assist HR users in data entry activities, reviews work and advises of errors.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field
  • 5 years experience working in a fast-paced, demanding and evolving environment, as well as functional knowledge of UltiPro, Oracle or equivalent system;
  • Understanding of UltiPro various modules, implementation, configuration and data warehousing development (administration and reporting);
  •  Experience with Query manager and Business Intelligence operational knowledge
  • Ability to gather and analyze large sums of data, propose and document and present concise recommendations to large user-groups and a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Driven, highly motivated, and committed to improvement
  • Ability to add something unique and positive to our team
  • Generally high level of all-around awesomeness
  • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed
  • Physically able to handle items weighing up to 25lbs (unassisted)

  •  General understanding of the development implementation life cycle, including: requirements analysis, gap analysis, application configuration, functional specifications, legacy system integration, reporting functions and components, product enhancement and support;
  • High proficiency in developing reports using Excel (pivot tables) and strong attention to detail and accuracy a must
  • Knowledge of Human Resources practices in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to translate business requirements into functional specifications, organizational skills; and strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide variety of clients and outside consultants and vendors.
  • Must be systems savvy with the ability easily adapt to a changing environment and priorities.
  • Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space
  • Ability to thrive as a ‘one person team’

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
