Position Summary

Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as Designer. If you join us in this position, you will assist in making a major contribution to the way we communicate with the world at large. As a startup, we have a work environment where no one design challenge ever fits comfortably into one specific design discipline, so you should be both talented and excited about doing a range of other work for the LauncherOne small satellite launch program. We’ll bring the rockets, you bring a great work ethic, a love for space, and your sweet skills with aspirational visual communication design. This is a great job for a space-lover who doesn’t necessarily have an engineering or science degree to make a meaningful contribution to humanity’s future in space. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.

Your Mission

  • Create awesome content for the company website, newsletters, customer communications, and education and outreach materials
  • Manage and maintain in-house identity collateral, including requests to create new business cards and digital signatures
  • Design company swag, flyers, brochures, banners and other similar items to support business development, recruiting, and community outreach.
  • Design and develop visual presentations
  • Design environmental graphics for our rocket factory
  • Translate complex technical data into clear and simple infographics
  • Participate in design research to support engineering and business development needs
  • Design and participate in web and interactive projects including website and intranet updates
  • Design and develop motion graphic assets for video
  • Represent our company, our employees, and our customers in a way that makes us all proud
  • Help Virgin Orbit do our part to make the world a better place
  • Constantly learn new things—and share them with your team members
