Virgin Orbit (VO) is seeking a new member for our team to serve as a Mission Manager. If you join us in this position, you will be responsible for the execution of rideshare missions for a Virgin Orbit customer that has purchased a launch for their respective spacecraft. This position will work with the customer and the engineering/production teams to ensure program execution of the customers’ mission reliably and on schedule. Further, the customer experience is premier in the fulfillment of a mission. This being a rideshare focused management position means that this position will be working with multiple customers and engaging across the mission management and technical teams for optimal mission execution for the primary and rideshare customers for the LauncherOne small satellite launch program. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position at our rocket factory in beautiful Long Beach, California.

Masters in Engineering or Science a plus
Prior experience executing spacecraft mission’s for a launch service company or a launch provider “broker” company.
Prior spacecraft technical experience especially in regard to launch environments and interfaces.
Strong contract negotiation skills.
Understanding of the state-of-the-industry in payload accommodations for rideshare payloads.
Passion for space exploration and a firm belief in the utility of affordable access to space
Ability to thrive as a ‘one person team’
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
